Giving Opportunities

November 2011 Mission Focus

Southern Province-wide, the Global Mission focus for this month is the Mission Society South membership drive. In the past, the Society's funds have been generated from an endowment fund. Due to the downward turn in the economy, the available funds have been drastically reduced, and are at risk. Our church has been in receipt of their "scholarship funds" for many years. These funds help to relieve the rising cost for our youth to attend summer camp, send them on short-term mission projects, plus international travel.

What can you do to help continue this scholarship support program for our rising youth and future missionaries?
Your membership will ensure that you will receive information on mission issues locally and around the world through their publication of the "ONWARD" monthly newsletter.

If making a donation, you may use the membership envelopes or the pew mission envelopes.
NOTE: Make sure your checks are made out to: Mission Society South if using membership envelopes provided in our Sunday bulletin for October 30, or if using a pew envelope, make your check payable to KMC Missions with a notation for: Mission Society South.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONTINUED SUPPORT!

Lowes Foods Fundraiser

The Adult Fellowship class handles this fundraiser. The class buys gift cards from Lowes Foods at a six percent discount through their Club Cash program. Individuals buy the cards from the class and shop at Loews as normal, using the gift card to pay. Your receipt shows the balance remaining on the card. There are no fees.

We started participating in this program in October 2008. It is an easy, easy way to donate to great causes. If you shop at Lowes, we would appreciate your using a gift card to pay for your purchases.

How much has been raised and here has it gone?
As of October 2011, we have donated $2800.00 as follows:
Christmas Stocking Fund $450.00
Pastor Don's Discretionary Fund $904.73
Local Mission Needs $720.27
___Michael Smith Medical Needs$150.00
___KES-YMCA Bright Beginnings$150.00
___College Age Care Packages$200.00
___Sunnyside Ministries$20.27
___Boy Scout Eagle Project for KMC$100.00
International Mission Needs$200.00
___Medical Supplies for Paige Wilkinson's Honduras Trip$100.00
___Haiti - Baby Kits$100.00

This has been accomplished with the support of only about a dozen regulars. Imagine what we could do if we doubled or tripled our participation!

How can you get a gift card?
Call Sylvia Ford at 336-996-7943, e-mail her at jaford@earthlink.net or see her at church. Make checks available to "Adult Fellowship SS Class".
Card amounts available: $25, $50, and $100. Other amounts available on a special order basis.

Family Promise

Our first week for the KMC congregation to host guests is the week of October 17-24. We are still seeking volunteers, especially van drivers and evening hosts. Our guests will sleep in the Activity Building, and we will provide supper for them to enjoy.

Thank you to all who have made donations to help us get started with this very worthwhile community assistance. Donations may be made to KMC Family Promise and given to J.Van Williard, Susan Johnston, or our church secretary Lynn Needham. If you would like more information about these volunteer opportunities, please speak with J.Van (336-664-9570) and Susan (336-996-5969).
