Music and music education have always been important in the Moravian Church. Today, our church supports The Moravian Music Foundation which houses, for the Church, an archive of manuscripts, compositions, and the like dating back to the earliest of record hymns of Jon Hus. Of course, the foundation adds additional work by Moravian and other composers which are continually being discovered throughout the world. Moravian Churches utilize this wonderful resource in seeking special anthems, hymns, etc., for special worship occasions.
Kernersville Moravian Church greatly appreciates the contributions of music to worship and we offer many opportunities for members to become involved in our music program.
Music and Worship Ministry
This mission ministry groups is scheduled to meet quarterly. They involve themselves in growing our choirs, band, handbells, take leadership in special services on and off site, among other duties. This mission ministry reports to the Board of Elders’ and makes recommendations to the Board of Elders’ regarding the music and worship program of our church.
The Chancel Choir
Our Chancel (Adult) Choir meets each Wednesday evening at 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. for weekly rehearsal. The Director of
Music, The Choir is divided into four parts: soprano, alto, tenor, and bass.

Handbells
Our handbell choir plays at various worship services throughout the year. They rehearse on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. It is not necessary to ‘know’ how to play handbells. We will certainly offer free instruction. If you are capable of counting
1-2-3-4, you are more than qualified to play in this choir!

Children’s Choirs
Music is a very important offering we make to God in worship. It is a form of worship God has given us to use to know him more thoroughly. Children’s Choirs are so very important to this end. We have a variety of choirs that sing at regular and special worship occasions throughout the year. Our Children’s Choirs are grouped as follows:

Band
Our Kernersville Moravian Church Band is a vitally important ministry of our congregation. The Band rehearses year-round from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Sundays in the Activity Building. Each Sunday morning in the sanctuary at 10:30 a.m., the band offers a Chorale Prelude prior to our 11:00 a.m. worship. This adds much to helping all present prepare to worship our God. Everyone who plays an instrument is cordially invited to join our band. The band plays for worship, lovefeasts, funerals, Easter, Christmas, services of Holy Communion and at other special occasions throughout the year. The band also offers an annual summer concert at the Family Shelter hosting all in attendance with homemade ice cream and desserts while enjoying an
afternoon concert. If you have an interest in playing in the band but do not know how to play an instrument OR do not have an instrument, our Band Director may be able to assist you in several ways. We
offer free band instruction and have several instruments available for use. Please contact our director or band president for additional information.
