What to Expect: Your First Visit
Welcome to Kernersville Moravian Church! We are so excited you would like to join us for worship. Visiting a new church can be challenging and difficult so we would like to make your visit as welcoming as possible. Here are answers to some frequently asked questions. We look forward to meeting you and hearing your story.
What Time Is Worship On Sunday Morning?
* Nursery is available during Sunday School and Worship Services
We are currently offering one in-person service on Sunday at 10 am. This service is held in our main Sanctuary as well as being shown as a livestream in our Historic Chapel. The Historic Chapel building is on the right side of our facility as you face it from Main street. Here’s what the front entrance looks like:
The main Sanctuary is located on the left side of our facility as you enter from Main Street. The entrance to this building is to the left of the Historic Chapel as you face the church from Main Street. Here’s the view of it:
Worship service lasts for about one hour. We also offer a number of Sunday School classes. These classes meet at various locations within our facility and are normally held from 9:00 am to 10:00 am prior to the main worshop service each Sunday. More information about these classes can be found at the bottom of this page.
Please note that on some special occasions we hold a single combined service at 10 am with Sunday School classes at 9 am. When this happens we’ll update this website with a notice on the front page to alert everyone. These are infrequent and we try to get the word out to everyone when the schedule is changed for worship. Please check our website or call our church office at 336-993-3620 when you decide to visit.
Where do I park?
There are a limited number of parking spaces at the front (or Main Street side) of the church. These are all designated as Handicap parking for those folks who need them. Most of our parking spots are in the rear of the church (Cherry Street side). Some of these are designated as Handicap parking, but there are plenty of spots here.
If you park in the rear you can walk around the right side of the church to get to the Main Sanctuary or around the left side to get to the Historic Chapel. You can also do what most members do and just come in thru the back entrance and take the stairs to get to either the Sanctuary or Historic Chapel.
There is also an elevator located on the left side and marked with a sign. Feel free to come in this way if you prefer to not go up the stairway as it will bring you up to top level where services are held.
If you have any questions we normally have greeters at both the rear and front locations to assist you. Please ask them if you need any help!
How should I dress?
Come as you are! Most of our members dress casually, but you will see folks wearing everything from jeans to suits. Please wear what is most comfortable to you.
Where do my children go during Worship?
Children are a big part of our faith community and we are glad you want them to experience Kernersville Moravian. We offer a nurturing atmosphere for children of all ages.
Infants to Preschool: We offer a place for children to learn and grow in their faith during the worship service. The children’s area is easily accessible by entering the back lot entrance.
1st – 6th Grades: We consider that worship is vital to the growing faith of our children. Children who are in this age range are invited to attend worship with their parents. Also, children are invited to join our Children’s Minister during the “children’s moment” in the Traditional Worship Service.
Children are welcomed in worship, and there is a children’s sermon every week. There is a nursery for babies and younger children as well. The nursery is staffed by a certified professional caregiver
What else should I expect as a visitor?
There are greeters at the front and rear entrances on Sunday mornings who can help answer any question you have. Upon entering the sanctuary you will be greeted and handed a bulletin that will give you all the information you will need to participate in the worship service. A Friendship Pad is passed during the service and we ask that you register your attendance with us. If you wish for someone to contact you following the service, please check the box and someone will reach out.
We do take up an offering at each service, but in no way are you expected to make a contribution. You are our guest and we want you to be welcomed as such.
You can find an overview of what we believe on the Who We Are page.
